Here is what Liz,
a CaneCorsoRescue.org volunteer since 2004 (even before the CCAA Rescue
Committee was formed!) has to say about her experience with Rockafella:
"We have worked
so, so hard for this. Rock is 3 years old, and we started our first training
class a few weeks after we got him at 12 weeks. So, I guess we started puppy
class when Rock was 4-5 months old. The lady that worked with us in Basic
Obedience pulled me aside one night after class and told me that she wanted
me to join her obedience classes. She explained that she wanted to see "that
fabulous dog in the ring"! At first, I thought she was kidding because
everyone at the facility always kept their distance from Rock and we even
had some uneducated people that didn't want Rock in the puppy socialization
pens with their pups :-( They complained to the management and the owner
even stuck up for Rock and I and explained to them how great Rock was.
(Don't get me wrong, we had our difficult times. We worked very hard to help
Rock develop his confidence. But man, we were more successful that I thought
we would be.) It was the cropped ears and the massive cranium :-)! When I
moved back to Austin, started my career, got married, and got involved in
Rescue, I had to take about a year break. I was so worried that I would lose
everything I had worked towards. But when I found another local trainer,
Rock showed off to her like we had never stopped training. Thanks for
letting me share, I am just so, so proud of him!"
